Baseball is Back!!

I didn't make dinner tonight because it was....
DOLLAR DOG NIGHT!
I always max out at two. The boys had an impressive four each! I'll be getting my tums now. Because it was our first game of the season I also treated myself to this:
Aren't my evil raccoon mittens awesome?
Never thought I'd say it but I missed baseball. Watching it on tv still sucks but being in the stadium is something else.
GO PHILLIES!

7th Inning Stretch!

I have been very busy eating my way through many Phillies games. Sadly we only have one more game left but I plan on getting one of those adorable sundaes in a baseball cap so it will be all rainbows and sunshine. Anyway, it's time for an unhealthy baseball quest update! Please keep in mind that I did not consume all of this food in one game or by myself. But first a recap:
Baseball: A Love Story
(although my scale would disagree)
My very first baseball game started with a Schmitter. Very hard to top I tell you, especially on a freezing April day. We have gotten them twice so far this year. I regret every calorie filled bite....except I don't really. We followed that up with a Dollar Dog night and I completely regret those life decisions, they certainly aren't Syracuse Dome Dogs (read: delicious Hoffman hot dogs that go down smooth and don't return to haunt you!)! We were lucky (unlucky?) enough to attend two Dollar Dog nights and my supply of tums took a big hit. Next up I satisfied my inner five year old with a giant pink fluffy cloud of spun sugar. This was followed by a sweat soaked game where I showed how attractive I can be chugging a liter bottle of water and hiding my melty misery behind a giant tub of Crab Fries. Crab fries are so delicious we got them again at the next game...but this time with cheese. Awesome. That leaves us with...
Cracker Jack! How can you not have Cracker Jack at a baseball game? Classic. And delicious. I'm a sucker for anything kettle/caramel corn related.
Dollar Dog Night #2: The Prep Boys!
I believe this is where I make some inappropriate all boys school joke.
We hit up Planet Hoagie for a hoagie (obviously) not a sandwich, sub, grinder or hero! (Sorry Mom!)
But I told you I didn't eat everything by myself! I'm glad I'm not the only one being so attractive at baseball games. *CHOMP*
Another sporting event classic: Hot Pretzels! Did you know that a hot pretzel and a coke will cure any ailment? I'm convinced and could make a fortune off of this.
I took my Dad to a game and he bought peanuts. I stopped after three, they're too much work. Can't you tell I'm thrilled? However, they do last a while and give you something to do during a long inning. Bonus points there.
Speaking of bonus points: If you're going to break your wrist on the morning that you're driving down from NY to visit me and you still show up....double bonus points. Letting me decorate your sling so you can go to the game injured and show everyone what a badass you are? Priceless.

They don't have heat delays in baseball?

It's hot, we've been social and out late, there was a dinner party. Needless to say we've been avoiding our kitchen and have relapsed into our college ways of easymac and grilled cheeses. To survive the heat I had this one night for dinner:
Butter Toffee Milkshake with Nutella Graham Crackers
I have also continued my epic baseball eating quest (Schmitters, Dollar Dogs, and Cotton Candy...Check!). The upside of Saturday's game was that I finally got some yummy crab fries. The downside was it was 100 degrees and we melted, even in the shade. Each of us had a 1.5 liter bottle of water that was consumed before the game ended. Everyone was drenched and no one had to use the bathroom (a record for me I'm sure!).
Behold the most flattering picture of me ever! See the melty misery!
Trying to hide my sweat soaked face behind the crab fries.
In more exciting and non-food related news: Mr. Lawyer missed being hit in the head by a home run ball that bounced off the foul pole by only a foot! In fact you can see the foul pole behind me in both pictures. The lady sitting next to him grabbed it. His defense was that he was holding a Schmitter sandwich and it was a Padre ball. At least he didn't try to use me as a shield.

Mac and Baseball

Last night I continued my unhealthy quest to eat through all of baseball food offered at the Phillies games. It was another Dollar Dog night and I performed poorly consuming only 1.5 dogs. Tragic. But I did devour this sugary beauty.
I have been studying like crazy for a certification exam and have been largely absent from the kitchen and subsiding on wonderful little gems like Wegman's boxed mac and cheese and microwave kettle corn. You should not despair because Wegman's Mac and Cheese is the best box mac and cheese ever. But only the spirals. I refuse to buy anything else. I think the pretty swirly shapes just suck up more cheesy goodness and taste better. Plus it makes you feel like a little kid again because being a big kid is laaaame. The Dork and I had many dinners consisting of mac and cheese. I miss those high school nights sitting across from each at the dinner table. It was epic.
Heaven.

Baseball is unhealthy.

Well we've finished up all our ham leftovers and I'm running off to Florida for a week so there hasn't been a lot going on in our Guinea Pig Kitchen. However we have had some exciting food adventures at the Phillies games! At my first real baseball game the boys made me eat a Schmitter sandwich which was amazing and disgusting all at once. It was some combination of cheese steak like steak, ham/salami/pork roll or something, cheese, tomato and special sauce. It was scary. And sloppy.
See the fear.
The boys were not as intimidated. Gross.
And last night was dollar dog night! So there was no need to make dinner. I think the final count was Brad 4, Kevin 3, and Jenni 2. Clearly I am the weak link (and my tums would agree with me).
Dollar Dog!
Next up on the list: Chickie's and Pete's Crab Fries! And um, a four dollar bag of cracker jacks. Because it's baseball.
