Moving Time!

The house hunt is over and we're gearing up to move!
Things are stressful and the apartment looks like a half packed disaster so there's been a lot of simple repeat meals like my favorite Cashew Chicken Lettuce Wraps.
Or this giant batch of delicious pasta with fresh tomato-basil sauce and sausage!
And of course because buying a house is panic attack central there has been a lot of this:
Hopefully I'll be updating in a month or so from my new gorgeous kitchen!

Sunshine Reading

I've been pretty busy taking advantage of this gorgeous weather and catching up on my recreational reading. My stack of magazines waiting to be read has disappeared and I'm checking off my Christmas books left and right. Every morning I get up early and start reading on our balcony with my coffee. I get some good sunshine time until a little afternoon. Then I move inside and putter around with chores and kitchen things. We've been having a lot of fresh food and salads which is wonderful but a little lame in the new recipe department.
Yummy salad with tuna and hardboiled egg. At least you can admire the Fiesta!
Sunshine reading...
I guess I better start looking for some new books or I won't have anything to read at the Shore! I cannot wait for beach season.

Happy Spring!

It finally feels like spring and I'm so excited for some sunny weather! I finally decided to bust out the Spring/Easter decorations in celebration. My obsession with kitchen linens continues. I'm in love with my new bright and cheery "chicks n' eggs" Easter towels.
The bar decorations have been busted out!
A couple of years ago Melissa made me an Easter egg garland made out of maps that represented special places to me. For example: Coop!
 Philly!
I also keep adorable old holiday cards to use for decorating. These little chicks are hanging out with the Jack.
Some more little peeps that I don't have the heart to separate.
Even my African Violet knows that it is spring time!

Grocery Store Crisis

We were going to make this amazing looking tuna steak recipe but the store was all out of tuna! Whomp whomp. Our in store emergency decision was catfish. We still have a pouch of cajun fish fry seasoning from Mr. Lawyer's New Orleans trip. Always delicious.
We'll catch that tuna another day!

Rainbow Love

I love opening my cabinets to be greeted by a cheery rainbow.
I've been rotating the larger dinner plates based on the colors of the season. We're still in the darker and icy hues of winter.
Fiesta Olympics!
I guess I should invest in a set of black fiesta so I can make the rings authentic. I don't have a set of ivory either.
 Syracuse themed coffee!
My organizing obsession got a little out of hand today. I saw this colorful binder system on pinterest and just had to have it. Now that we're beginning our journey as a married couple it made sense to organize everything nicely. Our categories are Medical/Insurance, Auto (it should read "stupid car"), House (!!!), Taxes, Bills etc (for any major bills, purchases, warranties, receipts, etc we should keep), and finally Pet paperwork! The store had two more different shades of blue and green...can you think of any other categories we should have? I really just want to buy those last two colors!
One more Fiesta rainbow shot because I can't resist.
Do you know your colors?

Snow Day Things

Cheers Philly! Thanks for another snow day.
The perfect way to start your morning.
And the perfect way to warm up after digging out your car.
I love snow days.

No Recipes

Repeats, standbys, and no recipes....and I'm not sorry.
For the second week in a row I made out favorite Cashew Chicken Lettuce Wraps. This time I doubled it and served it up with some jasmine rice. It's amazing. Make it now.
Mr. Lawyer was home early due to the Nor'easter and I nearly died due to an ocular migraine so he took over dinner duties and nursed me back to health with his grad school staple chicken parm. Always delicious.
Healthy vegan skillet of healthy things! I sauteed up some onions, garlic, and kale. Then I threw in some diced baked sweet potatoes and mixed it all with quinoa. It was good but very healthy tasting so we added some sriracha. It was excellent and filling for lunch the next day.

Snow Day Pie

Nothing like getting cozy with a cup of coffee on a snow day.
A Fiesta Rainbow will inspire you to empty the dishwasher.
 A snow day pie!
I used my Grandma Nancy's apple pie recipe and did a lattice crust top.

A Christmas Cheer Update!

I've received my 1st Christmas card (from my Great Aunt Ruthie!) and I can hear the snowplow outside...a magical sound that makes me feel like an unreasonably excited child. Ah, childhood memories!
New His & Her S'more ornaments from the Mother Unit
Getting my childhood count down calendar ready!
We alternate picking the ornaments everyday.
My Grandma's family heirloom tree has found a safe spot on the kitchen table.
My pumpkin is still in good shape so I decorated it for the new holiday season!
It might be having an identity crisis.
